MCP Servers for VS Code
VS Code supports MCP natively and through extensions like GitHub Copilot, Cline, and Roo. AgenticMarket gives you two install paths: a dedicated VS Code extension for visual browsing, or the CLI for terminal-first developers. Both auto-configure your MCP settings — no JSON editing.
VS Code Extension
Browse the full registry from VS Code's sidebar. Install, remove, and manage servers with one click.
- Visual server browser with search and filters
- One-click install — writes mcp.json automatically
- Server health status visible in sidebar
- Works alongside Copilot, Cline, and other agents
Terminal CLI
The CLI auto-detects VS Code and writes config to .vscode/mcp.json.

MCP SupportVS Code MCP Troubleshooting
VS Code doesn't show MCP tools after install
Reload VS Code (Ctrl+Shift+P → 'Developer: Reload Window'). Check that .vscode/mcp.json or ~/.vscode/mcp.json has the server entry.
Copilot agent mode doesn't use MCP tools
Go to Settings → search 'MCP' → ensure 'Chat: MCP' is enabled. Ask Copilot explicitly: 'Use the web-reader tool to fetch this URL.'
Extension shows 'Authentication required'
Open AgenticMarket sidebar → click 'Sign In' or run `amkt auth YOUR_KEY` in terminal.
Config conflict between extension and CLI
Both write to mcp.json. Run `npx agenticmarket list` to verify and `npx agenticmarket remove @creator/server` to clean duplicates.
