MCP Servers for Claude Desktop
Claude Desktop was the first app to support MCP — Anthropic created the Model Context Protocol. With AgenticMarket, you can install verified MCP servers into Claude Desktop with one command. The CLI writes to claude_desktop_config.json automatically — no manual editing.
How Claude Desktop Uses MCP
Native MCP Support
Claude Desktop reads MCP server configs from claude_desktop_config.json. When you ask Claude to do something that requires an external tool — like reading a webpage, querying a database, or checking an API — it routes the request through the configured MCP server automatically.
Why AgenticMarket
Manually configuring Claude Desktop MCP requires editing JSON, finding endpoints, and debugging connections. AgenticMarket's CLI handles this automatically — plus every server is continuously verified 24/7, and failed calls cost $0. You get verified infrastructure instead of pointing Claude at unknown endpoints.
Claude Desktop Config Paths
The CLI writes to these paths automatically, but here's where to find the config if you need to inspect it:
~/Library/Application Support/Claude/claude_desktop_config.json%APPDATA%\Claude\claude_desktop_config.jsonClaude Desktop MCP Troubleshooting
Claude Desktop doesn't show tools after install
Fully quit Claude Desktop (not just close the window — quit from the menu bar/system tray) and reopen. Claude reads MCP config only on cold start.
'Could not connect to MCP server' error
AgenticMarket servers run through our verified proxy — not localhost. Check internet connection. If the error persists, the upstream server may be temporarily down. Run `npx agenticmarket status @creator/server` to check.
Tools show but Claude ignores them
Claude Desktop sometimes needs explicit prompting: 'Use the web-reader tool to extract content from https://...' — direct tool references help Claude select the right MCP server.
Config file not found after install
The CLI writes to the standard Claude Desktop config path. On macOS: ~/Library/Application Support/Claude/claude_desktop_config.json. On Windows: %APPDATA%/Claude/claude_desktop_config.json. Verify the file exists.
Verified Infrastructure
Claude Desktop connects through AgenticMarket's proxy — never directly to unknown upstream servers. Verified 24/7.
One Command Install
No editing claude_desktop_config.json by hand. The CLI handles everything.
